Who should be a witness for the name change?

Your deed poll needs to be signed by a witness. The witness needs to be-
18 years old or above
They should have no personal connection to you.
They should NOT be related to you
They should NOT be married to you, be your partner, or be in a relationship with you
They should NOT live at the same address as you

We recommend that you ask a neighbour, friend, work colleague or employer to witness the document. You do not need a solicitor.
